> القلقلة is an echoing sound.
There are five letters in the quran that are: Qaaf, taa, baa, jeem and daal (ق ط ب ج د )- قطب جد
Rule: Only when there is a sukoon on any of these letters, or if you stop at them.
In the Qur’an: an echoing sound that follows the ق ط ب ج د, in their “sukoon” form only (or if you cause it to have a ‘sukoon’, as in stopping at the word that ends with one of these letters).
The reason for qalqala is to make sure the letter is heard perfectly.
Because when you stop at one of these letters, you’re closing your airway, and the person listening cannot tell what the last letter was.
Qalqala needs a lot of practice to be said accurately; it doesn’t follow the harakah of the letter before it or after it.
There are Three different levels of Qalqalah:
Level 1 : The least strength is when it is in the middle of a word
“وخلقْناكم أزواجا”, “و لا تجْزون إلا ما كنتم تعملون” or when you are connecting it with the next word “قدْ بينا الآيات لقوم يوقنون”. Here the “echo” is very light.
Level 2: Middle strength, when the letter is in the end of a word, with no shaddah “والله من ورائهم محيط”, “بل هو قرآن مجيد”
Level 3: It has a shaddah and it comes at the end of an ayah. The strongest qalqalah is when the word is in the end, and has a shaddah, you drop the last harakah, and say it with qalqalah “قال رب احكم بالحقٌ”
Here you’d hold the qalqalah for a little bit, because it has shaddah and sukoon.
You drop the last harakah, and leave the shaddah as its part of the word, so if it is haqqi, you make it haqq.
Question : which level is the word “تب ” in first ayay in
surat al masad?
(answer: Level 3)
Sources: The above notes are taken from an online halaqah on tajweed (which started recently), and the teacher is using the book “بعض المفيد في علم التجويد“, and few websites.

Assalamu Alaykum,
It is true that at face value, there seem to be three levels of qalqalah, which is precisely the reason why contemporary scholars have mentioned as such…. but in reality there are only TWO levels mentioned in the old books of tajweed , namely Qalqalah Kubra and Qalqalah Sughra. The point to understand here is that in reality the levels 2 and 3 that you have mentioned above are of the same category. It is important to differentiate between the pronunciation of tashdeed and qalqalah.
The actual strength level of the so called echo are the same for levels 2 and 3 (mentioned above)….. what is different though is that you make obvious the shadd in the latter and not the former. So in practice you pronounce two letters (for shad) before the qalqalah in the latter and you pronounce only one letter and the qalqalah in the former.
You may find out more about this here… http://www.abouttajweed.com/qalqalah_mechanism.htm

Assalamu Alaykum warehmatullahi wabarakatuh,
JazakumAllahu khayran Hafsa adn Talib ul ilm.
Talib ul ilm: I understand what you’re talking about the distinction between shaddah and qalqalah, and i agree it should be clear.
Tajweed like many sciences, was developed later on to preserve the Quran and to make it easier for people to pronounce perfectly. Therefore, differences are quite possible and appreciated for they make things easier.
It is interesting to note that all the letters of قطب جد share two characteristics (sifaat): 1) they are all shiddah letters (strong/stressed), 2) all are Qalqalah letters.
I’ll have to check it with someone knowledgable and in the meantime I hope someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
Wallahu Ta’ala Alam.
JazakaAllahu Khayran.

Assalamu alaykum warehmatullahi wabarakatuh,
sorry for such a late reply. there are many good websites for tajweed esp http://www.abouttajweed.com/index.php
There is a book for beginners “The Easy Tajweed” (but it is pretty much the same as the site i think). Currently I am so out of touch, I do not know of any online courses/classes going on. Sorry, I’m not of much help.

Assalam Alaikom,
Here is a great series by Yasir Qadhi. So very beneficial inshaAllah to learn the rules. But we have to keep in mind that we can never practice tajweed by ourselves. Someone has to listen.
May Allah bless us with the knowledge of His Book, and make us among those who act upon it.

I know it was too long ago. I hope by now you were able to learn it in the best way. If you still need,I have one booklet. I can send it to you or any other sis’ or bros if they can leave their emails. It is not a perfect one, but it has basic rules [including the levels of qalqalah, but as you might know it is a very deep science, so these are not so very detail]
Maassalam

Assalaam`alaikum waraHmatullaah,
Mashaa-Allaah it is very good.
Please ammend the followings;
Level 3: It has a shaddah and it comes at the end of an ayah. The strongest qalqalah is when the “word” is in the end,
as the “Letter” is in the end,
Jazzaakumullaah.

Assalam alaikum warahmathullahi wabrakathuh,
I’m one of qur’an teacher diploma in Saudi Arabia .
I would like to salve the confusions.
some scalars has said there is three kind of qalqalah , they are qalqalathul kubra,qalqathus-sughra and qalqalah-al-kabeer. but it is actually kubra and kabeer like same because, qalqalah-al-kubra only for stoping. So, in the word of shadhdhah ح+قْ+قٍ should stop on witch in sign letter with same sound of kubra. so no different for kubra and kabeer but it is good to explain for beginners about al kabeer because to practice like this mushadh, dha, dhah letters. and explain in shadhdhah has sakin and muthaharrik together so hold the sakin and make qalqalah for muthaharrik.
May you‘ll find mistakes in my English language , so I’m very sorry.
wassalam-

what is the rule in case of ‘fasabbih’ in sura ‘Nasr’ and for ‘tabbat yada’ in sura ‘masad’.

I will be relieved from the anxiety if you help me to get the answer

Kids are under more pressure than ever to succeed in school.
With school books, notebooks, computers, video games, cell phones (not to mention snacks and water bottles),
all having become “must have” items. Tent camping is great for
families with younger children because it’s fun, inexpensive, and the right combination of being outdoors without being too far from those modern conveniences.

When you create this ability, then you will be ready to encounter the stock marketplace. He is the only person produced it to the last table in 2003 and 2004 as a result. It is how the participant would be bringing the sport.
